• BLOODLUST _ Suicidal Mission... (12" EP, PRE-ORDER)
  • Some bands don’t age well. Others simply don’t. Yet very few manage to not only survive but retain their original ferocity all the way. One of those rare cases are New Jersey thrashers BLOOD FEAST whose recently released fourth album Infinite Evolution is as manic sounding and earth shattering as their famed 1987 debut Kill For Pleasure.

But before BLOOD FEAST, there was BLOOD LUST. They sported more or less the same logo, attitude and line-up, minus guitar player Michael Badsen who joined in April 1986, a month or so before they decided to switch moniker. This first version lasted barely a year and left behind only one official release, the Suicidal Mission demo. But what a demo it was and DOOMENTIA is once again damn proud to resurrect it from the dead and give the treatment it deserves thirty-eight years later.

Make no mistakes: BLOODFEAST most lethal weapons were already firmly in place, even if those four tracks were recorded as a four-piece. The piercing riff, hysterical vocals – like Steve Souza from EXODUS on crack - by former frontman Gary Markovitch and neck-breaking speed… It’s all there, with a very mid-80s vibe yet of a level rarely if never heard from demo bands back then, despite the solid competition. Soon after Suicidal Mission was completed, they realized another band already bore the name BLOODLUST and was already signed to Metal Blade so they switch for the equally evocative BLOOD FEAST and the rest is history as they say… The fact that two (‘Menacing Thunder’ and ‘Suicidal Mission’) out of those four tracks made it to famous compilations like Speed Metal Hell Vol. III and Thrash Metal Attack speaks volume about their sheer brutality so here’s the chance to taste the glove, thanks to this one-sided (the program being repeated in both side) quality LP reissue by the one and only DOOMENTIA.

    • MALAURIU / SINOATH _ 7" split (PRE-ORDER)
  • In some cases, split releases do compile together random acts who have little to do with each other. But in some (rare) cases, the end result bears a greater purpose, forging an alliance in darkness if you will. Such is the case here with cult black/doom/progressive Sicilian act SINOATH, sharing this highly collectable piece of wax with fellow countrymen MALAURIU.

Both bands don’t just share Sicilian origins. Besides, compared to SINOATH whose never-ending quest started all the way back to 1990 MALAURIU is a rather ‘new’, if quite productive with already two full-lenght and a whole lot of EP and demos under its belt, act, having being active for ‘only’ ten years. So one could also argue that stylistically speaking, the two are quite different: whereas MALAURIU is more or less acquainted with black-metal, albeit a quite experimental version of it, SINOATH sound is far more old-school oriented, if as everchanging. Yet both acts are all about pushing boundaries and following a very personal path.

Talking of SINOATH, the latter contribution ‘Symphony Of The Scythe’ sees them revisiting in a way their roots, inspired by a vision of death and its role in our everyday life. A one-of-a-kind track dedicated to the late Massimo Chiofalo, who played guitar on their 2015 EP Meanders Of Doom. On the flipside, MALAURIU’ song, ‘Scuru’, is as idiosyncratic, throwing out of the window all known so-called conventions in favour of something unique and utterly ‘out there’. The track also benefits from the presence of Regen Graves from ABYSMAL GRIEF on keyboards, adding the mystique.

Two great and hard-to-pigeonhole acts for one very special split EP, rooted in the classic Italian occult style yet with a different spin, courtesy of yours truly, DOOMENTIA RECORDS.

    • BLOOD INCANTATION _ Astral Spells (10" promo 2014, PRE-ORDER)
  • Every story has a beginning… Mind you, technically speaking, this wasn’t exactly THE beginning for the BLOOD INCANTATION guys. By that time, the Colorado lot been together for roughly three years and had put low-key, limited and rough sounding material and friends and family only. But one could say that it’s truly on the Astral Spells demo that BLOOD INCANTATION fully became BLOOD INCANTATION. Compiling two rough unmixed demo versions of ‘Hovering Lifeless’ and ‘Mephitic Effluvia’ and an even rougher live versions of both ‘The Vth Tablet’ and ‘Obfuscating The Linear Threshold’ it’s here for the first time that the cosmic vibe, weird guitar patterns and overall this uncanny if hard to pinpoint ‘oddness’ were all but ones, with then session member Damon Good from the mighty MOURNFUL CONGREGATION and STARGAZER, added his personal touch on fretless bass.

Originally released in a run of 100 copies, the studio side of this tape was meant to serve as a basis for what would become their debut EP Interdimensional Extinction but due to the sound engineer losing the basic tracks, the whole things had to be remixed, thus making those first versions quite exclusive.

With their impending album already tagged as the most expected death metal release of the year, the band felt the time was right to reissue it on vinyl and teamed up with DOOMENTIA to make it even more special. Adorned with a 10”, it includes 6-panel booklet with all the lyrics, two interviews from 2013 and 2014, archive photos and even testimonials from both Paul Riedl (guitar and vocals) and Damon Good, making this long-awaited reissue worthy of the legend BLOO INCANTATION has become ten years later.

    • SLAŤ _ Elegie Propastná (12" LP/MC, PRE-ORDER)
    • 1 of 2
  • It was only a matter of time before the paths of Doomentia Records and doom/sludge/stoner band SLAŤ would inevitably cross. An active name in the Czech underground, the group is now supported by a label that operates very close to its genre. SLAŤ was formed in 2021 in the lively underground of Brno and the line-up includes active and former members of well-known acts like Gospel of the Future, Nikander, and Kandar. A successful debut demo from the same year set the direction for SLAŤ’s future and the band is now releasing their much anticipated LP.

SLAŤ means "peat bog" in Czech and the album Elegie propastná brings a proper mud bath. The quartet takes you on a thoroughly dismal and harrowing ride with a slow pace of traditional doom metal and a touch of more accessible stoner rock progressions, while also drowning you in icy waves of sludge. SLAŤ will pull you in with powerful sabbath-esque riffs and won't let go. Haunting female vocals are the icing on the cake. Sometimes unbridled, sometimes eerily pure, as if hanging on to the last minutes of life. The sound of SLAŤ is as heavy as the arrival of a biblical cataclysmic wave that will bury all those who refuse to sway to the beat in ecstasy.

Elegie propastná spans forty minutes and is released by Doomentia Records on an impressive colored vinyl. For cassette tape enthusiasts, a limited edition cassette will also be released. This record will bring all to their knees, slowly but surely…

    • FAÜST _ Death Galore (LP/CD/MC, PRE-ORDER)
  • You know you can always count on a highly-respected long term underground label like WITCHES BREW to sniff the right stuff whenever one new kid on the block rears its ugly head. After a welcome change of moniker from COLDBLOODED FISH to FAÜST in 2020, this lot of three Czech boys and one Slovak really showed the rest of the world they meant business with Tinnitus Inquisition on the German imprint, a nasty yet fresh and damn pissed debut album back in 2022.

Shaken by their intense mix of classic crossover and thrash sound boosted by a very contemporary feel, think NUCLEAR ASSAULT attacking MUNICIPAL WASTE in a dark alley with a rusty knife, DOOMENTIA had no choice but to offer to release their next slab of violence. Preceded in August by the Where Nightmares Reign Supreme digital single - aptly described by the band members themselves as ‘this what happens when you play thrash but you really love death metal’ – their sophomore album Death Galore picks things up where its predecessor had left them and push all the buttons to eleven.

It’s no wonder why the whole tracklisting is peppered with nods to some famous names of the extreme metal realms: ‘Entombed Alive’, ‘Diluting The Slime’ or ‘Lust Decontrol’ vividly show how they’ve smartly got out of the comfortable yet sometimes retro-thrash ghetto to fully embrace a more modern but as lethal mix or thrash and death metal with maximum results. They have arrived!

    • NECROCOCK _ Practices of Undertakers (12" LP DEMO)
    • 1 of 12
  • Oh yeah, weird. These days, anybody can be weird. Put on a clown suit, scream at the top of our lungs, add some blips here and there and you’ll be labelled as such. Easy. But being weird in 1992 was a whole different ball game, especially if you were part of the still fresh yet somehow conservative second wave of black metal. Then again, the so-to-be founding member of KAVIAR KAVALIER and then current guitar player of the equally out-of-this-world MASTER’S HAMMER Tomás Kohout already gave shithole about conventions or so-called rules. And what happens when a twenty years old six-stringer just freshly out of the recording of eastern Europe first ever black metal masterpiece Ritual decides to throw said rules out of the window and go berserk creatively speaking just by itself? You get NECROCOCK.

Granted, for the last two decades or so, Kohout – or one could say his insane avatar – has released no less than eight albums under this moniker, each crazier than its predecessor, including 2023’s Tafelmusik. So from a contemporary point of view, NECROCOCK very first recording may seem a tad more conventional. But as strongly suggested by its OOP moniker, Practices Of Undertakers proves in retrospect that the versatile musician (who performs every instrument here, making it a true solo work) was already all about fucking shit up and dancing around the flames while the rest of kept watching, in awe. The basic elements are all here, mind you – croaked vocals, fuzzy guitar sound, demonic stance and creepy keyboards. All ‘so 90s’. Yet, the way they’re all assembled and seemingly twisted beyond recognition – in one word, weird – remains to this day absolutely unique.

Practices Of Undertakers ain’t just one extremely valuable document for all KAVIAR KAVALIER and early MASTER’S HAMMER fans out there, it’s one of the best ever demo to come out of the early 90’s Czech extreme metal scene. And this one-of-a-kind recording is now lovingly and carefully reissued officially for the first time by your ever reliable DOOMENTIA imprint.

    • SCHIZOPHRENIA _ Chants of the Abyss (12" EP)
  • To say that Belgium’s SCHIZOPHRENIA took the underground by storm would be an understatement. Ever since their first EP Voices four years ago and the following insanely intense debut album in 2022, those starving youngsters have reinjected a much need sense of urgency and danger in the otherwise now quite mundane territory separating thrash from death metal. By using elements of both and adding their own twist and fury to them, hey’ve become one of the hottest bands around. They may have spent most of 2023 with over 80 shows played all over Europe and be working, as we speak, on their second full-length yet they still did find time to record a very special EP, first released digitally and on self released CD but now available as a lavish, cut at 45 RPM speed to ensure the best sound quality possible LP thanks to DOOMENTIA.

Meant to salute their wide range of influences, Chants Of The Abyss was destined to be a quite large selection of styles. And indeed, by opening the hostilities with a raging SLAYER tune (‘Necrophiliac’), the very first cover they worked on for this tribute, before switching to death metal (MORBID ANGEL’s immortal ‘Maze Of Torment’), classic heavy-metal (JUDAS PRIEST’s ‘Metal Meltdown’) and horror punk (MISFITS’ ‘Bullet’) before paddling back to old-school thrash (EXODUS ‘Strike Of The Beast’) and concluding on a hardcore note (GBH’s ‘Race Against Time’), it goes above and beyond its duty.

We’re not talking here of mere, carbon copy lazy covers but actual performances done with gusto, as if all those songs were theirs and freshly out of the rehearsal room. By paying homage to the godz, SCHIZOPHRENIA solidify their position as their legitimate heirs.

    • PHANTOM _ Handed to Execution (CD DIGIPACK)
    • 1 of 5
  • After a trio of demo recordings and a split project with Kill Witch, Malicious Intent, Anti-Criss and Praefator, Mexican thrashers Phantom finally released a full-length album in 2023. Put simply, this is the sort of lethal assault that used to turn up on mid-80s speed metal compilations whereby said artist would rip your ears off then disappear, never to return.

Guadalajara-based Phantom has that vicious vintage flavour; scathing, zipping bursts of spiteful energy that frantically weave their wiry way through your veins with acidic aplomb. It’s essentially no frills nastiness but with a vigour and vim channelled through frothing riffs and ravenous percussion.

The whole torrential downpour is headed by the usual vocal lashing from J.C. Necrohex, but on the whole it’s such an enjoyable. The tracks are driven by raw streaks of hellish hostility. In a time machine is this gem in the racks alongside Hallows Eve, Sentinel Beast et al; a lo-fi yet ripping entity sure to raise the dead. Released on CD with the highest standards available by DOOMENTIA.
